Lower Gwynedd Township 

Lower Gwynedd township is one of the oldest townships in Montgomery County. The Quakers settled Gwynedd Township in the late 1600's. William Penn spearheaded the development of the township, and in 1891 it was divided into 2 separate townships, Lower and Upper Gwynedd. The word Gwynedd is derived from the Welsh word "Gwyn Eth" which means white fields. Records show that the first settlers arriving from Wales found the area blanketed with snow, and so came the name. 

Gwynedd Township today is home to 10,422 residents. The median income is $74,351 and the median household assessed value is $200,000 (www.census.gov). There are currently 4 parks, totalling appx. 92 acres, and over 8 trails, totaling appx. 8.5 miles) for residents to enjoy in their leisure time.
